🛰️ Details of 6 Payloads on Chandrayaan 3
You all must have seen the posts of @isro about the Payloads functioning normally.
But what are these payloads, let’s know.
There were total 6 Payloads sent on the #Chandrayaan3 mission.
- 3 Payloads on Lander
- 2 Payloads on Rover
- 1 Propulsion Payload
Let’s start with Lander Payloads:
1. Rambha LP (Langmuir Probe)
To measure the near surface plasma (ions and electrons) density and its changes with time.
2. ChaSTE
Chandra’s Surface Thermo- physical Experiment
To carry out the measurements of thermal properties of lunar surface near polar region.
3. ILSA
Instrument for Lunar Seismic Activity
To measure seismicity around the landing site and delineating the structure of the lunar crust and mantle.
Let’s talk about Rover payloads:
4. APXS
Alpha Particle X-Ray Spectrometer
To derive the chemical composition and infer mineralogical composition to further enhance our understanding of lunar surface.
5. LIBS
Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscope
To determine the elemental composition (Mg, Al, Si, K, Ca,Ti, Fe) of lunar soil and rocks around the lunar landing site.
Propulsion Module has only one Payload:
6. SHAPE.
Spectro-polarimetry of HAbitable Planet Earth.
An experimental payload to study the spectro-polarimetric signatures of the habitable planet Earth in
the near-infrared (NIR) wavelength range (1–1.7 μm).
